What is Lapril® used for?
Lapril® is an orally-active and long-acting nonsulphydryl antihypertensive agent that suppresses the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system to lower blood pressure.
How Lapril® works?
Lapril® is a prodrug belonging to the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor drug class that works on the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, which is responsible for the regulation of blood pressure and fluid and electrolyte homeostasis.
Side effects of Lapril®
Lapril® may cause serious side effects:
- a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out
- high blood potassium - nausea, weakness, tingly feeling, chest pain, irregular heartbeats, loss of movement
- low white blood cell counts - fever, mouth sores, skin sores, sore throat, cough
- kidney problems - swelling, urinating less, feeling tired or short of breath; or
- liver problems - loss of appetite, stomach pain (upper right side), tiredness, itching, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)
What if you forget to take Lapril® tablet?
If you miss a dose of Lapril® tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Warnings
Do not use Lapril® if you are pregnant. If you become pregnant, stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor right away.
